Members with Alpha Charts access can connect Fidelity, Schwab, E*TRADE, Robinhood, Webull US, Vanguard US, Public, tastytrade, moomoo, Wealthsimple, Questrade, Coinbase, Kraken or Binance in Account → Connections → Brokerage accounts. Interactive Brokers is deferred. Your holdings are private. TradingAlpha requests read-only access and cannot place, change or close brokerage orders.
Use Search brokerages to find your provider. Broker availability depends on the production integration; some providers may be temporarily unavailable. Linking a provider does not guarantee that its holdings feed can support automatic stops.
Connect an account
Choose a brokerage, sign in directly through SnapTrade’s secure portal and approve read-only access. Return to TradingAlpha to import your holdings. TradingAlpha never receives your brokerage password; never share it with support or in a community post.
Refresh positions
Account shows masked accounts, holdings, stop status and the brokerage’s data time. Refresh positions shares a ten-minute limit with automatic imports. The import time and brokerage data time can differ. If holdings are still preparing, wait and refresh later. Maintenance may temporarily prevent linking; a slower-service notice describes a degraded provider.
Automatic imports run about every ten minutes with the app closed only when both the brokerage and SnapTrade report current data. Delayed or unknown feeds cannot enable automatic stops. Failed imports and disconnected feeds keep the last-known holding and existing monitoring; a stale holding is not proof that you sold it.
Set up automatic stops
Automatic stops starts off for every connection. Open Set up and choose:
- A chart timeframe.
- Patient, Aggressive or both paths. With both, choose which crossing triggers the alert.
- Initial stop mode and distance: Tight, Balanced, Wide, or Extra wide when available.
- Whether crossing notifications are enabled.
- Current and future holdings or Future holdings only.
Enrollment waits for the next complete, current import. Current and future queues plans for existing supported holdings as well as new ones. Future only records existing holdings as the baseline without creating plans for them. Later settings changes affect future plans only; existing plans stay individually managed in Charts. Turn off new plans also cancels pending creations while leaving saved plans intact.
Chart start and unsupported holdings
One plan is created per holding, account and open episode. Its chart start is the first candle opening after detection or enrollment, at that candle’s opening price. It is separate from your actual brokerage entry price and time, so check the start before relying on it.
The plan waits for that candle and at least twenty earlier chart candles. Waiting plans retry automatically from stored chart data. Supported equity and clearly matched spot-crypto holdings can create plans. Unsupported or ambiguous holdings remain visible with an explanation.
These are holdings snapshots, not execution records. A trade opened and closed between imports may be missed.
Manage a plan
Use Manage stop beside a holding to open its chart. Edit paths, distance, start, presentation and notifications in the existing stop editor. Generated plans also offer Change this plan’s timeframe: preview the saved configuration, then move it. Insufficient history or an already-crossed target configuration prevents a move. Notification settings stay the same; a move does not silently turn alerts on.
Changing quantity keeps the current plan. A complete current import confirming closure pauses its linked alert and retains the plan/history. Reopening or reversing direction creates a new episode. Pausing or deleting a generated plan is respected for the rest of that episode; imports do not recreate or reactivate it.
Notifications
Stop crossings are checked about every five minutes against stored chart data, including while the app is closed. Delivery follows your existing Charts email/browser preferences and connected devices. Notifications describe a detected crossing and its data time. They never mean a brokerage order was placed.
Disconnect
Disconnect pauses linked automatic alerts, keeps chart plans and alert history, and removes the active connection’s imported holdings. It does not sell holdings or close the brokerage account. If trading access is reported, disconnect and reconnect read-only.
